3D Models from CT Scan STL
Client was very impressed with CT results. 3D models of components revealed significant voids in prototype product. 3D model of assembly revealed interference between prototype components. Client now plans to expand use of Zeiss' X-ray Computed Tomography (CT). Multiple products will benefit from 3D models created from CT scan STL mesh.
Rapidform XOR3 and EXPLORER software modules were used to analyze STL mesh created using Zeiss CT scan technology. STL data was extremely high resolution which allowed creation of very accurate and very detailed 3D models, which enabled determination of cause of product non function and which allowed characterization of voids in material. Dimensional analysis using Zeiss' CAD to scan comparison technology was very beneficial as well.
